I love olive oil. I use it for cooking, for drizzlingly over cooked pasta to keep it from sticking, and of course, for salads. But, I always have another bottle tucked away in the bathroom (hidden because if people see it they start asking questions and think I'm a bit off my rocker). However, olive oil is not just for cooking, it's great for dry skin!
Olive oil is the only thing, for me, that keeps the itchy, flaky winter skin at bay. I've tried every moisturizer I can get my hands on and olive oil works better, at a fraction of the price (budget-friendly beauty!). A few drops rubbed into the problem areas is all I need and I'm good to go.
Olive oil is also great for scars since it's loaded with vitamins and won't clog pores. Oh, and then there's makeup removal, olive oil gets it off without any hassle and a touch of witch hazel works as a gentle astringent.
Olive oil will also l help heal that sunburn and those chapped lips. I kid you not, it's the first thing I grab in the early summer when I come in from the garden and a sunburn coming on. It heals the burn and keeps my skin from peeling. Speaking of the outdoors, olive oil also helps with bug bites. Apply to the bite and it takes away the itch.
Warm it up and use it as a hot oil treatment for your hair. Acting as a deep conditioner it soothes, dry, damaged locks.
It can even be used to treat diaper rash, heal cracked heels, and to shave those legs!
Being all natural and loaded with things that are great for your skin I don't understand why we all don't have a bottle of this wonderful stuff tucked away in our cabinets. Just make sure you keep the cooking oil and the beauty oil separate, what goes in the bathroom should never be found in the kitchen!
