Here's my recipe for a moist oven roast. I get many compliments when I make it.
3-4 lb Sirloin Tip Roast (can use another cut, but this is my favorite) Cajun Seasoning (I use Tony Chacheres) Onion Powder Garlic Powder 1-2 Tablespoons Olive Oil 2 cans Coke Zero (optional) 1 diced onion 3 Tablespoons Better than Beef Bouillon Soy Sauce Lemon Juice 3 Large Russet or Red Potatoes, diced
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. While preheating, season your roast on both sides with a generous amount of cajun seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder. Put about 1-2 Tablespoons of Olive oil in a nice sized pot that has a lid, at Medium-High heat. Seer both sides of roast, till it's a nice deep brown color. Next, add 2 cans of Coke Zero to the pot. Add the diced onion, and the Better than Beef Bouillon Base (you'll need to stir that until it dissolves). Next, sprinkle Soy Sauce (I use a Gluten Free Soy Sauce) on top of the Roast, then sprinkle the Lemon Juice. Add the diced potatoes. The roast and all the contents should be covered with liquid. If its not, add water to the pot. You probably won't need more than 1 cup.
Put the cover on your pot. Once it starts to boil, turn the stove off. Place your pot, with the lid on, inside your preheated oven. Cook for approximately 5 hours, or until fork tender, checking periodically the level of the liquid. I normally have to add at least 1 cup of water to the pot, while it's baking. We eat is over rice. Good luck and happy cooking!!!!
Please note: it's entirely possible to make with without the coke zero. If you choose to do so, just increase the amount of water that you add by 3 cups :) It's a wonderful recipe, either way.
