I love fast, easy and delicious meals and this one works out perfectly. It's sweet and salty, the adults love it, and even picky kids won't complain when they taste it. Best of all, the sauce can easily be used for chicken or pork so if you have too much, just store it in the fridge for another night and you will have a head start for your upcoming meal.
You'll need for the meatballs:
In a large mixing bowl, combine your ground beef, eggs, milk, bread crumbs (or potato flakes and cornstarch) onions, bell peppers, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper together and mix well. Form into balls and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until meat is cooked through and they are starting to brown up.
While the meatballs are cooking you can work on your sauce, which honestly, makes this the best recipe ever!
You'll need for the sauce:
In a sauce pan combine your soy sauce, water, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and honey and cook until everything comes to a simmer on medium heat. Whisk in your flour and stir, reducing heat until it thickens. (Gluten-Free: Whisk together 1/2 cup of cold water you reserved back with corn starch and stir in. Bring up to a simmer to thicken and then remove from heat).
If it comes out too thick you can thin it with a bit of water until it's to your liking.
Toss together your meatballs and sauce and serve with rice or Asian style noodles.
