I'm a big reader, so it's not often that I come across a movie that was better than the book. It does happen, though, and these are a few occurrences.
I heard so many good things about Stephen King's writing that I had very high expectations for Carrie. I barely finished reading it though, because it was so boring. The 2013 movie Carrie was much better.
I really wanted to like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. After reading the first book, though, there was no way I was picking up Through the Looking-Glass - it was hard enough to trudge through the first one! I enjoyed the cartoon of Alice in Wonderland, and the real-life version with Johnny Depp much more than the book.
I was forced to read The Great Gatsby for an English class, and it was most definitely not on my 'favorite' list. There were other books we were forced to read that I enjoyed, but this was not one of them. The movie was better.
Most of the books on this list, I did not like. Not the case with The Maze Runner - I actually enjoyed this book. It just wasn't as good as the movie. I'm sad to say that with this one.
Do you have any books that you read that weren't as good as the movie? Of course there are probably books on my list that you completely disagree about, but that's okay. We are all unique, after all :)
