We have all, at one time or another in our life, tried to lose weight. If you are like me, you have tried so many things! Atkins, Weight Watchers, low carb, low calorie, Palio, Blood type diet, South Beach, etc., the list goes on. I have tried many different diets with little success. I'm not good at counting calories, points, or weighing my food. I did Atkins at one time and lost 45 pounds, but gained it all back. I have tried twice since, and as recently as 2 months ago, but it just doesn't work anymore for me for some reason.
Last year I tried the Medifast diet, and this is my review for it. In fact I am starting it again this week sometime, for about a month, to lose what I gained over the winter months. About 20 pounds I am hoping for.
Here is the link for the Medifast site, where you can read about Medifast and see all the foods available. http://www.medifast1.com/index.jsp The foods are priced for $19.50 a box for 7 meals, or $2.79 a meal. I can tell you that the prices have gone up. Last year they were $14.50, which would have been $2.07 a meal. I didn't buy mine from this site, Instead I trolled Ebay and Craigslist for deals. I bought some for as low as 70 cents a meal! You just have to keep watching. I also found that the expired food goes cheaper! I don't know how you feel about that, but if it's only expired a month or two, I don't have a problem.
This is how Medifast works: You have 5 Medifast meals a day, spaced about 2-3 hours apart, and 1 meal that is Lean N Green. This meal for myself, was usually a salad, fish, or chicken with broccoli or cauliflower. There is lots of information of the site as to what you can or can't eat. For me, this diet was a no-brainer. I didn't have to measure, count calories or really think at all. Each packet was so easy to make......just add water, stir and microwave. They do have bars, snacks and cereal that take no preparation, just eat out of the bag. I will tell you that portions are small, but having to eat every 2-3 hours kept me from feeling hungry. These packets are powerhouses with the amount of protein and vitamins you get in each one. I felt great the whole time I was on the diet. Just follow the directions given, drink plenty of water and eat every 2-3 hours. It will take a few days to adjust, but I was on it around 4 months the first time. I lost 60 pounds with this diet in about 4-5 months! I KNOW it works, that's why I will buy it and use it again and again.
Now, some people might say the food tastes horrible, and although it's not anywhere near gourmet, it is edible and really isn't that bad. I did have some that I hated, and will go over that later, but here is the list on what I did like.
Bars: Including, Cookie dough, Peanut Butter, Caramel, Cinnamon Roll, Oatmeal Raisin and S'mores.
Snacks: Spicy Bean , popcorn, cinnamon pretzel sticks, parmesan puffs and cereals, chocolate brownie and blueberry muffin.
Soups and main dishes: chicken noodle, chili, sloppy joe, tomato, chicken rice, ziti, and mashed potatoes.
and Breakfast: Original pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, peach oatmeal, blueberry oatmeal, maple and brown sugar, and scrambled eggs.
So you see, there are some various foods that you can get, and these are just a few. Just look at the website for all the food.
Now for the items I didn't like: I didn't care much for the shakes and I absolutely hated the Honey Mustard pretzels. The Barbeque bites and pizza bites were a no and most of the drinks. That being said, there is still plenty of choices. I would recommend this product for anyone to give it a try. You can go on Ebay, most any day, and purchase just a week of meals.
For me this was the most successful way I have lost weight. If you should have any questions, just comment, and I will answer you.
