I don't know about you, but with cold and flu season coming up, I am getting geared up to survive. For my last 2 colds that I felt coming on, I took 2 tsp of elderberry syrup, drank a pot of tea, slept and felt over the cold the next morning. The problem is that elderberry syrup from your neighborhood health food store is EXPENSIVE. A tiny bottle good for 10 doses for $10. With this recipe you can make a 2-3 cups (50-100 tsp) for as little as $11.
The recipe is simple, boil a cup of dried berries in 4 cups of water. Strain berries and squeeze out juice. Add 1 1/2 cups of raw honey. If you want to add more health benefits add ginger or some essential oils.
