It’s a new year and that means out with the old and in with the new. For most folks that means cleaning out closets, re-organizing the kids’ room, and refreshing your living space. But what if your design dreams are bigger than your wallet?

Don’t worry! Refreshing a space doesn’t need to cost a ton of cash. In fact, the smallest changes can make the biggest difference. One of the best ways to add a fresh face to your space is by integrating bold patterns with your existing home decor and furniture.

To help you get started we’ve rounded up our favorite patterned accessories, shared by the Shopswell community.

Polka Dots

Polka dots seem to be everywhere these days — from fashion to home decor. Although dots definitely offer a more playful style, this throw pillow and these  gorgeous curtain sheers prove that polka dots can offer a sophisticated look.

Feeling ambitious? Check out these gold dot wall decals. We love them!

Stripes & Geometrics

As hot as geometric patterns are right now, these graphic patterns have been a favored decorating style for decades. If you find yourself hesitant to use a bold pattern, we suggest trying it in small doses. Add some pattern forward picture frames to an end table, use a funky geometric throw blanket over the back of the couch, or better yet, place this budget-friendly throw pillow on your favorite chair (can you tell we love throw pillows?).

Once you get started you’ll love experimenting with these fun geometric accessories, without the big cash commitment.

The chevron pattern, or “zig-zag” (remember Charlie Brown’s sweater?) has taken the design world by storm over the last couple of years. This high energy print is a fun way to breathe life into a room.  Make chevron the focal point of your bedroom with this great comforter set, or add some “oomph” to your bathroom with a playful chevron shower curtain.

Our personal chevron favorite? This modern chevron rug. Isn’t it to die for?

So there you have it: how to refresh your space for less using patterned designs. Can’t get enough of these patterns? We totally get it. You can check out all 55 of our favorite patterned accessories on this list:
