I have been making this natural cold remedy for a few years now, as a way to boost our immune systems during cold and flu season. Not only does the elixir give your immune system the boost it needs to fight colds, but it also lowers blood pressure, cholesterol, and provides a solid dose of Vitamin C.
If you can stand adding a jalapeño to the mix, all the better. The minerals found in these spicy peppers promote healthy red blood cells, nervous system function, and fight congestion.
One shot a day is enough to keep the doctor away!
Chop lemons (skins too!) in to quarters. Separate garlic cloves from all four heads. Slice your jalapeño opened and remove the seeds (leave a few if you can stand turning up the heat). Add lemons, garlic, and peppers to blender or food processor and pulse until fine. Tip: I usually add a cup of water from the reserved two litters to get things moving.
Dump chopped, garlic mixture into sauce pan. Add remaining water and bring to a slow boil. Remove from heat, cover, and let elixir cool. Strain liquid into an airtight container and store in the fridge. Take as needed, preferably before a meal.
