Nothing ruins a good day like an argument over why the chores aren't finished. I like cleaning most of the time, but when I'm sick or in the middle of a hectic work schedule, I don't want to deal with a messy house. It took some time, but I've found the right combination of tools that make it quick and easy to handle common tasks like sweeping and mopping.
I never really understood why the standard dustpan requires me to lean down and awkwardly sweep debris into it. My back isn't a big fan of the idea either. The answer was staring right at me the entire time. Every time I go to the movies or a restaurant, I see the staff using lobby brooms, which have a handle on the dustpan. The Carlisle version can't be beat and there's no more bent back for me!
There isn't any carpeting in my home, so a full-size vacuum feels like overkill. Plus, the thought of lugging that heavy thing up and down the stairs makes it easy to put off any vacuuming "until tomorrow." This bagless vacuum is small and lightweight and easily handles hardwood flooring and area rugs.
My cat makes a game of seeing how far she can spread litter around the house and has a pretty active lifestyle. A steam mop is great for getting all my floors clean, without having to spend hours going over every nook and cranny with a regular mop.
